Description
Organic Chickpea Flour (Cicer arietinum). Available in 500g and 1kg. Made solely from finely milled chickpeas, this flour has a subtly nutty, earthy flavour. It is naturally gluten-free and suitable for vegan and plant-based cooking. Chickpea flour has been a staple of Mediterranean, Indian and Middle Eastern kitchens for centuries. Uses: gluten-free baking such as breads, pancakes and muffins; batters and crisp coatings for vegetables and proteins; and thickening soups and stews. It can also be mixed with water as a traditional cosmetic face mask. Nutrition per 100g: protein 21g, fibre 10g, iron 6.2mg, folate 172mcg, magnesium 160mg. Simple recipe, vegan chickpea pancakes: combine 1 cup chickpea flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1/2 cup water, salt and pepper. Add chopped vegetables, pour onto a hot skillet and cook until golden brown. Serve hot; refrigerate any leftovers. Storage: keep in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
