Brown Top Millet (Urochloa ramosa) is an ancient grain native to India, valued for its earthy, mildly nutty flavor and rustic texture that sits between quinoa and rice. It suits both traditional and modern dishes. Features: Vegan: no animal products or by-products used in cultivation or processing. Gluten-free: suitable for gluten-free diets. Organic: grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Bio-certified: produced to high sustainability standards. Usage: Best soaked or sprouted before cooking. Use in salads, pilafs and porridges, or grind into flour for baking. Suggested serving: 2 tablespoons (30 g). Nutritional facts (per 100 g): Carbohydrates 72 g, Protein 11 g, Fat 4 g. Recipe ideas: Millet salad: Combine 1 cup cooked millet, 1 cup diced cucumber, 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes, 1/4 cup chopped mint, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon agave or maple syrup and salt. Serve chilled. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Quick porridge: Cook 1/2 cup millet in 1 cup almond milk until soft, sweeten with 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup and top with fresh fruit. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days. Millet vegetable soup: Cook 1 cup millet with 4 cups vegetable broth and 1 cup chopped carrots, celery and broccoli until soft. Finish with 1 tablespoon lemon juice, herbs and spices. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days. Face scrub: Mix 2 tablespoons ground millet with 1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil and 1 tablespoon honey. Apply, scrub gently and rinse after 10 minutes. Use immediately. If the millet is past its best-by date, mix it with compost or soil to use as plant feed.
